The No. 16 Oregon State gymnastics team faces their second meet in three days with a road trip to UCLA to open the conference schedule at Pauley Pavilion on Sunday at 3 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network.

The Beavs will start on bars, then rotate to vault, floor and finish the meet on beam with UCLA set to follow Olympic order of vault, bars, beam and floor.

LAST TIME OUT
Seventeen of Oregon State's gymnastics 21-member roster competed in the lineup or in an exhibition routine, as the GymBeavs showed their depth en route to posting a season-best 197.275 to defeat the 194.150 of Rutgers on Friday night at Gill Coliseum.

HOMECOMING FOR THE CHAPLINS
Head coach Tanya Chaplin and associate head coach Michael Chaplin were both standout gymnast at UCLA, where the couple met. During her athletic career at UCLA, Tanya held six school records and received six All-America honors. She was named Pac-10 Gymnast of the Year and UCLA all-university Athlete of the Year in 1987 and 1989. Michael earned his first national championship as a student-athlete at UCLA. A two-time All-American and four-year letterman, he was a member of UCLA's 1987 national championship team. In 1989, he was the Pac-10 champion on the still rings and finished fifth in the nation on the event.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Bruins are under the direction of first-year head coach Janelle McDonald. After three straight road meets to start the season, No. 6 UCLA hosts its first home meet of 2023 on Sunday. UCLA has won its last eight home openers. The Bruins are ranked in the Top 12 on all four events, checking in at second on uneven bars and floor exercise, eighth on vault and 12th on balance beam. Individually, three Bruins rank in the Top 20 in the all-around - No. 3 Selena Harris, No. 9 Jordan Chiles and No. 16 Chae Campbell. UCLA won its Pac-12 opener on Jan. 21 at Washington, outscoring the host Huskies, 196.900-195.825. For the second consecutive week, freshman Selena Harris won the all-around with a score of 39.725. Harris has been named the Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Week each week of the season thus far. Jordan Chiles, who was an Olympic teammate with Jade Carey on the 2020 US Olympic team currently ranks No. 1 in the country on bars.
