The Abernethy Bridge on Interstate 205 in Oregon City will be closed overnight on Friday, January 16, and Saturday, January 17, to allow for the installation of a new sign bridge. The closures will take place from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday night and from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Saturday night.

According to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), crews will install the second of two sign structures on the bridge and remove the old one during these closures. The first sign structure was installed in December.

During this period, both the on-ramp from OR 99E to southbound I-205 and the OR 43 to northbound I-205 will also be closed.

Travelers using I-205 are advised to follow detours along OR 224, OR 99E, and I-5. ODOT recommends that drivers “follow the signs and plan extra time into your trip.” Local traffic can use the Arch Bridge as an alternative route across the river.

ODOT cautions that closure dates and times may change due to weather or unforeseen events. For updates, travelers are encouraged to visit the project website.
