The Abernethy Bridge on Interstate 205 in Oregon City will be closed overnight from 11 p.m. on Monday, January 26, until 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 27. The closure is required for the removal of an old sign bridge.

During this period, the section of I-205 between OR 99E and OR 43 will not be accessible. This includes closures of the on-ramp from OR 99E to southbound I-205 and the ramp from OR 43 to northbound I-205.

According to officials, “Monday’s overnight closure will be between OR 99E and OR 43, including the on-ramp from OR 99E to southbound I-205 and the OR 43 to northbound I-205 also will close. The closure hours will be 11 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.”

This work was initially planned for last Friday but was postponed due to a high wind forecast. The installation of a new sign bridge took place during Saturday night’s closure as scheduled.

Detours have been set up for travelers using I-205 via routes such as OR 224, OR 99E, and I-5. Signs are posted along these detour routes, and drivers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Local traffic needing to cross the river can use the Arch Bridge.

Project officials note that construction schedules may change depending on weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Ongoing updates can be found on the project website.
