Portland men’s tennis players Tannor Binder and Tom Garcia were named to the 2026 West Coast Conference All-Academic Team, according to an April 22 announcement. Nikola Keremedchiev and Stefan Skobelev received honorable mention recognition for their academic achievements.
The selection of Binder and Garcia highlights the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at Portland. The awards recognize not only athletic performance but also commitment in the classroom.
Binder, a junior business major from Beaverton, Oregon, has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.70. He has achieved a singles record of 15-12 overall this season and secured the match-clinching win against Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference Tournament. In doubles play, he has collected nine wins during the season.
Garcia holds a cumulative GPA of 3.93 as a business major. Competing primarily at No. 2 singles this spring, he recorded nine overall singles victories along with thirteen doubles wins across all matches.
Keremedchiev maintains a GPA of 3.42 while playing at the top positions in both singles and doubles for Portland as a business major. Skobelev is also studying business with a GPA of 3.52 and has won fourteen singles matches this year.
The Pilots have qualified for the WCC Championships for five consecutive seasons under head coach Aaron Gross. This year, Portland enters as the No. 5 seed and will face fourth-seeded LMU on Thursday morning in Green Valley Country Club.
