A Douglas County man has been sentenced to 168 months in federal prison and five years of supervised release for drug trafficking and illegally possessing firearms. Glenn Allen Gearhart, 51, was convicted after law enforcement discovered evidence of drug dealing and multiple firearms at his residence.
According to court documents, on October 18, 2024, detectives from the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) executed a search warrant at Gearhart’s home. They found methamphetamine, cocaine, drug records, digital scales, packaging materials, four loaded magazines, and ammunition. Before officers arrived, Gearhart attempted to flee but collided with another vehicle and then crashed into a patrol car. Authorities recovered more than $5,000 in cash, fentanyl, and ammunition from his person. Inside his vehicle were a stolen pistol, an AR-style rifle, a short-barrel shotgun, another shotgun, and two cans full of ammunition.
Gearhart was formally charged on June 13, 2025 with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm. On August 5, 2025 he pleaded guilty to all charges: “possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount fentanyl,” “possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine,” and “felon in possession of a firearm.”
The investigation was conducted by DINT and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Sweet prosecuted the case.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which coordinates efforts between law enforcement agencies and communities to reduce violent crime and gun violence nationwide. The Department of Justice strengthened PSN’s strategy on May 26, 2021 by focusing on community trust-building initiatives and targeted enforcement priorities.
