Guatemalan national pleads guilty to depredation of government property in Oregon

A Guatemalan national unlawfully residing in the United States pleaded guilty on April 1 to intentionally striking a government vehicle with his car, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.

Alvaro Carrillo, age 33, admitted guilt to depredation of government property after an incident that began when federal border patrol agents and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers attempted a traffic stop on November 11, 2025. According to court documents, Carrillo fled the scene by putting his car in drive and struck the agents’ vehicle several times during a pursuit before losing control and colliding with a concrete barrier.

Carrillo was indicted by a federal grand jury in Portland on December 9, 2025, facing charges of aggravated assault and depredation of government property. He was sentenced to time served after spending nearly five months in custody and ordered to pay $1,409.27 in restitution.

Homeland Security Investigations led the investigation while prosecution was handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon. Scott Bradford has served as U.S. Attorney for this district and previously held roles such as Chief of the White Collar Unit and Acting Chief of the Counterintelligence and Export Control Section, according to the official website.
