Honda announced on Apr. 14 that its electric Super-N hatchback will be available in the United Kingdom this July, with prices expected to start at $27,000 according to Electrek.
The introduction of the Super-N marks Honda’s move into offering more affordable electric vehicles, contrasting with many brands that focus on luxury models. The car is already sold in Japan under the name Super-One and features a simulated seven-speed transmission. Its driving range is estimated at about 128 miles per charge, increasing up to 199 miles for city driving.
Rebecca Adamson, Honda’s head of U.K. Operations, described the vehicle as “a very funky, cute Honda” in comments to Autocar. She also highlighted affordability as a key advantage for buyers: “In terms of what it will do for us, the price point will be very important.” The compact hatchback weighs just over 2,800 pounds and measures approximately 11 feet long. It delivers 63 horsepower but can reach nearly 93 horsepower when Boost Mode is activated.
Rising fuel prices have made electric vehicles increasingly attractive due to their lower fueling and maintenance costs. While there are no current plans for the Super-N model to enter U.S. markets, Autocar noted that its small size would suit crowded U.K. roads while still offering enough interior space for small families.
Pre-orders for the Honda Super-N are set to open later this month.
