Lyndsey Grein was named D1 Softball National Pitcher of the Week on Apr. 14 after leading Oregon to a sweep over Maryland. This is the second time this season that Grein has received a national pitcher of the week honor.

Grein’s recognition highlights her strong performance in college softball and her contribution to Oregon’s success. The senior from Mokena, Illinois, recorded three wins against Maryland with a 0.93 earned run average over 15 innings pitched. She allowed only two runs on seven hits, struck out 25 batters, and walked just two while giving up only one extra base hit during the series.

During Friday’s game, Grein struck out eight in four shutout innings as Oregon won by run-rule, 11-0. On Saturday, she threw four hitless relief innings with seven strikeouts in an extra-inning win for the Ducks. She finished the weekend on Sunday by striking out ten batters in a complete game victory.

Earlier this season, Grein was honored as Wilson/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week on March 24. Currently holding a record of 21-4, she leads the Big Ten Conference in strikeouts (164), WHIP (0.94), and opponent batting average (.173). She is also second in wins and third in earned run average at 2.15.

Oregon is ranked No. 13 nationally and will host No. 23 Washington for a three-game series starting Friday at Jane Sanders Stadium.
