The Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles announced on April 16 that the Madras DMV office at 249 S.W. Third St. is closed for the day because of staffing issues.

The closure affects residents who planned to visit the Madras location for motor vehicle services. The department said customers may be able to complete their transactions online through DMV2U, which offers more than 30 services around the clock, or by visiting the Redmond office.

No further details were provided about when the Madras office will reopen or what led to the staffing shortage. Customers seeking assistance can contact customer service at 503-945-5000 or oregondmv@odot.oregon.gov.

This temporary closure highlights ongoing challenges some state agencies face in maintaining full operations due to staffing constraints.

The department encourages those affected by this closure and others outside of Madras to update their subscription preferences in order to receive news relevant to their region.
