Miami Foley Road will be fully closed on August 12 to allow crews to set beams for the new Crystal Creek and Dry Creek Bridges. The closure will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., affecting the stretch between Crystal Creek and Dry Creek. A detour using U.S. 101 will be available during this time.

According to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), construction crews will be working throughout the day, and residents should expect noise and possible delays. ODOT plans to reopen a single lane of Miami Foley Road by 4 p.m. on the same day, with traffic managed by a temporary signal.

After August 12, work will continue with one lane open and ongoing daytime construction activity. There is also another full road closure at Crystal Creek planned later in the year.

The current project involves replacing both the temporary bridge at Crystal Creek and the culvert at Dry Creek with permanent bridges. Unlike typical bridge projects that keep roads closed for extended periods, ODOT is building each bridge one lane at a time to minimize traffic impacts.

ODOT notes that while its funding crisis is affecting maintenance and operations, most construction projects are continuing because they are funded through separate programs with state or federal funds restricted to project development rather than daily operations or maintenance needs.

Mindy McCartt, Public Information Officer for ODOT, can be contacted for further questions about the project.

Drivers are reminded to slow down in work zones as fines double regardless of whether workers or signs are present.
