The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced that the New Youngs Bay Bridge on U.S. 101 will be closed for maintenance work during the nights of September 17 and September 18. The closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.

During these hours, drivers will need to use U.S. 101B as a detour route around the bridge closure. ODOT has advised travelers to expect construction noise and possible delays in the area.

ODOT stated, “Our schedule may change. Visit TripCheck.com for the most up-to-date information. We appreciate your patience while we work to preserve the bridge.”

The agency is currently facing a funding crisis affecting its maintenance and operations, but most projects are continuing as planned due to separate state or federal funds that are legally restricted for project development rather than routine maintenance or operations.

Drivers are reminded to follow safety protocols in work zones, including slowing down and moving over when approaching construction areas. According to ODOT, “Remember that fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.”

For more information about ongoing road projects in local communities, residents can visit ODOT’s webpage featuring an interactive map of current construction activities.

Questions regarding the project can be directed to Mindy McCartt, Public Information Officer at ODOT.

Accommodations for translation or accessibility services related to this project are available by contacting ODOT through TTY (800) 735-2900 or using the statewide Oregon Relay Service at 7-1-1.

Travelers seeking updates on road conditions and traffic alerts can visit TripCheck.com or call 5-1-1.
