The Newport Department of Motor Vehicles at 158 N.E. Fifth St. is closed on March 26 due to staffing, according to an announcement from the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The closure affects residents who planned to visit the Newport office for in-person services. The department encourages customers to use DMV2U, which offers more than 30 transactions online and is available around the clock. Alternatively, individuals can visit the Lincoln City office for their needs.

Customers seeking assistance can contact the department by phone at 503-945-5000 or by email at oregondmv@odot.oregon.gov. Additional information and online services are available at oregondmv.com.

No further details were provided about when normal operations will resume at the Newport location.
