The Oregon Department of Transportation announced on April 17 that several bridges in Astoria and Warrenton will be closed at night for inspections beginning in late April.

The scheduled closures are important to allow crews to inspect the U.S. 101 New Youngs Bay Bridge, the U.S. 101B Lewis and Clark River Bridge, and the U.S. 101B Old Youngs Bay Bridge. These inspections are necessary to ensure the continued safety of these structures for drivers and pedestrians.

According to the announcement, the U.S. 101 New Young’s Bay Bridge will close fully from 8 p.m. on April 27 until it reopens at 6 a.m. on April 28. The U.S. 101B Lewis and Clark River Bridge will have a full nighttime closure starting at 7 p.m. on April 28 through to reopening at 6 a.m. on April 29, while the U.S. 101B Old Youngs Bay Bridge is set for two nights of full closures from April 29 through April 30 between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

These plans are weather-dependent, so schedules may change if conditions require adjustments, according to officials who advise checking TripCheck.com for current information about traffic impacts.

Pedestrian access—including access for those with disabilities—will remain available through or around work zones during these closures, as stated by ODOT.

The department encourages residents to share this information with others so more people can stay informed about upcoming bridge work.
