Nighttime construction work will take place on NE 14th Street in Lincoln City from February 10 to 12 as part of the Oregon Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) ADA curb ramp project. The work will involve single lane closures and nighttime noise between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.
According to ODOT, “NE 14th Street will be open to eastbound one-way traffic only between U.S. 101 and NE Keel Avenue nightly from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.” A detour for westbound traffic on NE 14th Street will direct vehicles to turn right onto NE Oar Avenue and then left onto NE 17th Street to reach the traffic signal at U.S. 101. Two-way access during daytime hours will remain open.
The closure could last up to two weeks, depending on weather conditions and progress. If necessary, night work and detours may continue from February 17 to 19, but there will be no detour over Presidents Day weekend from February 14 to 16.
ODOT states that “closing westbound access to NE 14th Street from U.S. 101 helps us keep our crews safer, finish the work faster and maintain pedestrian access on the east side of the highway.”
Drivers should expect other impacts including daytime construction Monday through Thursday, some Friday or additional night work if needed, shoulder and lane closures, business access remaining open, delays with flaggers directing traffic as required, and loud construction noise due to concrete cutting.
Residents can visit ODOT’s project webpage for more details about ongoing roadwork in their area or use TripCheck.com for real-time travel updates across Oregon roads.
ODOT reminds drivers: “Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work. Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.” The agency also notes that fines double in all Oregon work zones regardless of whether workers or signs are present.
