Drivers on Interstate 5 between Salem and Albany now have access to new traffic cameras and electronic message boards. The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) announced that installation work is complete, with the goal of improving travel planning and real-time information for motorists.

According to ODOT, camera feeds will be added to TripCheck later this year. This update aims to assist drivers in preparing for their journeys along I-5. In addition, new message boards are intended to provide immediate updates about crashes, construction, or other incidents that could affect traffic flow.

ODOT advised travelers that some crews may still be present in the area as they finish remaining construction tasks and clear work zones. Drivers are urged to use caution when passing through these areas.

The agency reminded the public that fines double in all Oregon work zones regardless of whether workers or signs are present. They also emphasized safe driving practices: “Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.”

Access for pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will continue to be available through or around work zones.

For further information on road conditions or ongoing projects in the community, ODOT recommends visiting their project webpage or using TripCheck.com for 24/7 updates.

Travelers seeking translation services or ADA accommodations can contact ODOT by phone. The department stated: “We do not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission or access to our programs, services, activities, hiring and employment practices. ODOT is an EEO/AA Employer.”

Questions about the project can be directed to Mindy McCartt, Public Information Officer at 503-507-6045.
