ODOT and the City of Gold Beach are collaborating on a plan to improve transportation in Gold Beach. The project, called the Gold Beach U.S. 101 Community Connections Plan, aims to identify and evaluate transportation projects that will enhance safety and connectivity for all users of the roadway. The plan also supports local economic development goals.

According to ODOT, “The U.S. 101 corridor through Gold Beach is a vibrant and accessible route that balances the needs of residents, visitors, emergency services and businesses and supports the city’s evolving economy.”

An online open house is scheduled for January. During this event, ODOT will review current transportation conditions and challenges in Gold Beach and seek feedback from community members about possible solutions.

In addition to the online event, Gold Beach Main Street will host an in-person town hall meeting on January 13. This meeting will focus on Ellensburg Avenue and the downtown corridor. Attendees can also ask questions about the Community Connections Plan. Feedback collected at this meeting will be shared with ODOT’s project team.

For more information about the project or to download a flyer, community members can visit the U.S. 101 Gold Beach Community Connections Plan website.

Project contact is Tom Guevara, Jr., ODOT Senior Planner (Thomas.Guevara@odot.oregon.gov), while media inquiries can be directed to Julie Denney, ODOT Public Information Officer (Julie.Denney@odot.oregon.gov).

Information gathered during these outreach efforts may be used in future environmental reviews required by federal law.
