Multnomah County announced on April 14 that one westbound lane of the Broadway Bridge will be closed from Wednesday, April 15 through Friday, April 17. The closure will take place each day between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

The temporary lane closure is expected to cause minor delays for westbound cars and trucks using the bridge during these times. One westbound lane and all sidewalks will remain open throughout the work period. The county said Portland Streetcar operations will not be affected by this closure.

According to Multnomah County, crews need space to set up equipment in preparation for the upcoming weekend’s full closure of the Broadway Bridge, when final steel materials used to balance the bridge will be installed. Details about this weekend’s complete bridge closure are available in a previous release.

This maintenance is part of the ongoing Broadway Bridge Lift Deck Replacement Project. More information about the project can be found at https://multco.us/info/broadway-bridge-lift-deck-replacement.

Multnomah County maintains five Willamette River bridges—the Sellwood, Hawthorne, Morrison, Burnside and Broadway Bridges—as well as the Wapato Bridge over the Multnomah Channel. Further details are available at https://www.multco.us/bridges.
