Both directions of OR 217 in Tigard will be closed overnight on Saturday, July 26, to facilitate the removal of a temporary pedestrian bridge. The closure will occur between SW Greenburg Road and OR 99W from 11:59 p.m. on July 26 until 8 a.m. on July 27.

Pedestrians, cyclists, and those using mobility aids can use one of the sidewalks on the nearly complete Hall Boulevard overpass during this time. Some nighttime noise is expected during the bridge removal process.

Southbound traffic will exit at SW Greenburg Road, while northbound traffic will exit at OR 99W. Additionally, several on-ramps will be closed overnight: southbound Hall Boulevard, Scholls Ferry Road, and Greenburg Road; northbound 72nd Avenue and OR 99W.

Motorists are advised to follow signed detours via Interstate 5 to the south of the closure area, Interstate 405 through Portland, and U.S. 26 to the north.

The project is part of ongoing construction for the OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project which aims to add auxiliary lanes between Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and OR 99W by December’s end. These lanes are intended to reduce congestion by providing ramp-to-ramp connections.

Despite funding challenges impacting maintenance operations at ODOT (Oregon Department Of Transportation), most construction projects like this one continue as planned due to separate capital funding sources.
