The Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team lost to Quinnipiac in the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) Semifinal on Apr. 24 at the Felix Event Center, with a final score of 260.990-256.010.
This result ends Oregon’s postseason run for the year, marking their fourth consecutive winning season and continuing their streak of earning at least one victory during each NCATA Championship over that period.
Oregon held a narrow lead heading into the final event but was overtaken by Quinnipiac, who advanced to its first championship appearance since 2018. “All in all, I am so proud of my student-athletes and what they put out on the floor today,” head coach Taylor Susnara said. “It was a neck-and-neck battle. It feels good that we executed, but it’s hard that we are not moving on to the next day.” Susnara also said, “We are so happy to be a part of it. Founding members competing today is amazing. Proud to be an Oregon Duck through and through. Oregon is very special to be a part of, and there is a lot of pride today.”
The Ducks began behind after the Compulsory round but responded strongly in subsequent events such as Acro and Pyramid, where they built their largest lead at halftime with scores narrowly ahead of Quinnipiac’s team.
Quinnipiac edged out Oregon in both Toss and Tumbling events before ultimately surpassing them in the team event for the win.
Looking ahead, next season will be significant as it marks the last year Acrobatics & Tumbling competes without NCAA championship recognition; official status will come sixteen years after its founding season in 2011.
Event finals are scheduled for Sunday at 10 a.m., broadcast on ESPN+.
