The Oregon Department of Transportation announced on Mar. 19 that paving work has been completed this week in Lincoln City to reopen as many lanes and curb ramps as possible ahead of spring break. While daytime lane closures are not expected during the holiday period, cones, signs, and other traffic control devices will remain in some areas where work is paused.
The department said that crews will continue some nighttime work with lane closures as needed within the city. In nearby areas such as Lincoln Beach and Salishan Hills Drive, both day and nighttime lane closures may still occur on U.S. 101.
Travelers passing through these areas can expect crews working during the day from Monday through Thursday, with some Friday and night work as necessary. There may be single lane and shoulder closures at all hours on U.S. 101, delays managed by flaggers, construction noise from equipment like concrete saws, and cones or barrels blocking off sections not open to the public. Business access will remain open throughout construction.
The department reminded drivers that even if workers are not visible in coned-off zones, those areas should still be considered active work sites for safety reasons. “Cones close off an area that is unsafe for pedestrians and vehicles to move through. The area will remain closed until crews are able to return, repair and reopen,” the statement said.
Drivers are urged not to move cones or park in restricted zones and to always drive safely through work areas. Fines double in all Oregon work zones regardless of whether workers or signs are present.
