The Oregon DMV office in John Day is closed today, September 22, due to staffing issues. The office, located at 193 N. Canyon Blvd., will not be open for customer service.
According to the Oregon DMV, staffing levels have remained about the same for the past 25 years, even as Oregon’s population has increased by 800,000 people. A current hiring freeze has made it necessary to temporarily close offices when there are not enough staff available.
“Drop-in customers may experience longer wait times with no guarantee of same-day service. For a better experience, check the office status before visiting, make an appointment, see if you can do your transaction on DMV2U and renew your registration using our mail-in option,” the agency stated.
Customers seeking assistance are encouraged to verify whether their local DMV office is open before arriving and consider alternative methods for completing their transactions.
