The Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles announced on March 31 that a new Golf Oregon specialty license plate will be available starting April 28. The plate is sponsored by the Oregon Junior Golf Fund and can be purchased through the DMV.

The introduction of this specialty plate allows drivers to support junior golf programs in the state. Each purchase or renewal includes an additional $40 surcharge, with approximately $35 from each transaction going directly to the Junior Golf Fund.

According to the announcement, customers can obtain the Golf Oregon plate by mail, at DMV field offices, or through licensed dealers. While renewals and stand-alone replacements can be completed online via DMV2U, those wishing to redeem pre-paid vouchers must apply in person or by mail. “DMV staff will verify the paper voucher by entering the voucher number into the system,” officials said.

The new design joins other specialty plates offered by Oregon DMV, such as Crater Lake, Cultural Trust, Gray Whale, and several others representing local organizations and causes.

No early applications for the Golf Oregon plate will be accepted before April 28. Customers are encouraged to review application options carefully if they plan to use a pre-paid voucher.
