The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) announced on April 14 that an additional date has been identified for potential measles exposure at Centennial Middle School in southeast Portland.
This update is important as it expands the window during which students, staff, and visitors may have come into contact with the virus. Public health officials urge anyone who was present at Centennial Middle School, located at 17650 SE Brooklyn St., between 9:20 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, April 3 to consult a health care provider about their risk of infection.
According to OHA, earlier reports had already listed other dates when exposures may have occurred at the same location. The agency advises people who were present during any of these times to immediately notify their health care provider that they might have been exposed to someone with measles. Providers can assess immunity based on vaccination records, age, or laboratory evidence of previous infection.
Families without a primary care provider are encouraged to seek care through one of Multnomah County’s seven primary care clinics or nine student health centers—located in high schools but available for anyone ages five through eighteen—by calling 503-988-5558 for appointments.
More information about measles is available from the Oregon Health Authority’s website.
