The Oregon lacrosse team concluded its 2026 season on Apr. 18 with a 15-10 loss to the University of Southern California at Papé Field. The Ducks finished their campaign with a record of 6-10 overall and went winless in Big Ten play.
This game marked the final appearance for six Oregon seniors: Rachel Pallo, Kylee Manser, Jenae Sperling, Jadyn Laing, Shelby Hahn and Anna Simmons. Their contributions were recognized in a postgame ceremony attended by teammates and supporters.
Head coach Jessica Drummond said, “It’s so amazing to be out here on Pape Field. They gave it their all, and I’m bummed with the outcome, but I’m also so proud of everything. We talk about how (the seniors) raise the standard of the program. They just do that. When you think of us, you just know we never stop believing. That is something we have been trying to instill in them from the start. This senior group has pushed the standard of how we show up for practices and games. They show up with a positive attitude and keep going after it.” Drummond added, “I love seeing them have fun and the joy. That’s what lacrosse is about. I’m so grateful for the seniors. I want to give a huge shoutout to them for pushing each other and ending so strongly. We had 10 goals against a Big Ten team, which is pretty cool to end on that.”
Oregon opened scoring early through Anna Simmons before USC responded with six unanswered goals in the first half for a commanding lead at halftime. Despite trailing by as many as eight goals late in the second half, Oregon closed strong by scoring three times within one minute during the game’s final moments.
Key performances included Lyla Hurley’s hat trick along with an assist; Lilly Fortin’s two goals and two assists; Simmons’ two goals plus an assist; while goalkeeper Kate Shields made twelve saves—just one shy of her career high—in her starting role.
The Ducks’ season ends with optimism from players’ resilience throughout conference play and recognition for departing seniors who set standards both on and off Papé Field.
