The Oregon School Activities Association announced on Apr. 21 a job opening for the position of assistant executive director, with applications due by May 26.

The role is important for managing and supervising high school athletic and activity programs across Oregon. The successful candidate will have administrative oversight of sports and activities conducted by the association, with specific assignments determined based on their strengths in relation to current staff.

Major responsibilities include administering regular season and state championships, interpreting OSAA rules and policies, serving as a liaison to committees, collaborating with officials’ associations statewide, and assisting in event management at state championships. Applicants are expected to communicate effectively with staff, school personnel, students, parents, officials, and other affiliated organizations.

Minimum qualifications require a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least five years of experience as a high school administrator or in related roles such as athletics director or coach. Candidates should also have experience in event planning, fiscal management, conflict resolution, collaborative relationship development, strong communication skills, attention to detail with multitasking ability, teamwork skills as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

The OSAA describes itself as a private non-profit board-governed association offering benefits including medical insurance packages and a competitive retirement plan. Most work hours will be at the Wilsonville office but may include travel along with night or weekend commitments. The starting salary range is $129,000-$133,000 depending on experience; employment begins June 2026.
