Drivers in Portland are advised to expect overnight lane closures on Interstate 5 over the next five nights. The Oregon Department of Transportation announced that work will take place at two locations, affecting traffic from Wednesday through Sunday nights.

From 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, lanes around the Banfield Interchange—which connects I-5 and Interstate 84—will be closed for routine bridge inspections.

Additionally, starting Friday night and continuing through Sunday night, the left lanes in both directions of I-5 under the Morrison Bridge will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. This closure is part of Multnomah County’s Morrison Bridge Strengthening Project and marks the second weekend of overnight closures for these repairs.

The Oregon Department of Transportation urges drivers traveling after 10 p.m. to “watch out and slow down for road crews’ safety as well as your own.”

Officials also note that road work is often dependent on weather conditions and may be rescheduled without notice if severe weather occurs. Drivers are encouraged to check TripCheck.com before traveling for up-to-date information about road closures and traffic cameras.
