ODOT has announced a change in the schedule for a paving project on Interstate 84 east of The Dalles. The work, which was initially set to begin on Monday, September 22, will now start on Wednesday, September 24, due to delays in obtaining the required asphalt.
Drivers traveling between mileposts 97 and 119—from The Dalles to Arlington—should expect lane closures and minor delays as paving takes place from Wednesday, September 24 through Friday, September 26. Additional work is scheduled for Monday, September 29 and Tuesday, September 30.
According to ODOT, “Expect intermittent paving work in both directions. This maintenance involves grind and inlay paving. Crews remove worn pavement and replace it with 2.5 inches of new asphalt. This method is a key part of preserving road quality and extending the life of the interstate.”
