Police investigate fatal hit and run involving pedestrian in Wilkes neighborhood

Portland Police announced on Apr. 17 that officers are investigating a fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian in the Wilkes neighborhood. The incident occurred at approximately 11:12 p.m. on April 16, when North Precinct officers responded to reports of a person down in the street near the 14900 block of Northeast Siskiyou Court.

Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and determined that the individual, described as an adult male, was deceased. Preliminary evidence indicates that he was struck by a vehicle whose driver did not remain at the scene.

The Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. During this process, Northeast 148th Avenue has been closed between Northeast Fremont Street and Northeast Siskiyou Court to allow for evidence collection and safety.

Authorities have requested assistance from anyone who may have information about this incident but has not yet spoken with police. Individuals are encouraged to email crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov with attention to the Traffic Investigations Unit and reference case number 26-109874.

The Public Information Officer is not responding to the scene at this time, but police said additional details will be released when appropriate.
