Rolling slowdowns and lane closures are scheduled for several Portland-area highways on Thursday, Oct. 30, to allow for graffiti cleanup and emergency pothole repairs. The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has advised drivers to plan for extra travel time due to these maintenance activities.

Graffiti removal will take place between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., affecting multiple interstate highways in North, East, and Southwest Portland. In North Portland, both directions of I-5 and I-405 will see rolling slowdowns during this period. In East Portland, southbound I-205 from the SE Powell Boulevard/U.S. 26 interchange, eastbound I-84 from I-5 to NE 33rd Avenue, and westbound I-84 approaching I-205 will be affected from 9 a.m. to noon.

In Southwest Portland, northbound I-5 just north of the junction with OR 217 will experience slowdowns from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by northbound I-405 from 10 a.m. to noon and southbound I-405 from noon to 2 p.m.

Emergency pothole repairs are also planned for two bridge decks in Beaverton along OR 217. These repairs will require right-lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., specifically at SW Denney Road and possibly near SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway.

ODOT is encouraging motorists to account for these delays when planning their routes on Thursday.
