Portland man pleads guilty to damaging ICE building cameras and setting fire

A Portland resident has admitted to damaging federal property at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) building in Portland. Alistair Macfarlane Sidener, 20, pleaded guilty to one count of depredation of government property.

Court documents state that on June 12, 2025, Sidener intentionally damaged several cameras mounted on the ICE facility by shooting paint at them with a water gun and hitting them with a long metal pole. After damaging the cameras, Sidener set debris on fire against a metal gate.

Sidener was charged by superseding information on January 28, 2026. He faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release. Sentencing is scheduled for May 27, 2026 before a U.S. District Court Judge.

As part of the plea agreement, Sidener has agreed to pay full restitution.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon is prosecuting it.
