A Portland man, James Michael Wallace, was sentenced to 151 months in federal prison for robbing a KeyBank branch with a loaded firearm. Wallace, 55, is classified as a career offender. In addition to his prison sentence, he received five years of supervised release and was ordered to pay $6,437 in restitution for losses related to this and other robberies.

Court documents show that on February 28, 2025, Wallace entered the KeyBank branch on Woodstock Avenue in Portland. He approached a teller, pressed a loaded gun to the teller’s torso, and demanded access to the cash drawer. Wallace left with $856 in cash but left his gun at the scene. At the time of the incident, he was already under federal supervision for a previous federal bank robbery conviction.

Wallace pleaded guilty on August 27, 2025, to one count of armed bank robbery. The case was investigated by the Portland Police Bureau and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Katherine A. Rykken prosecuted the case.
