The Portland Pilots announced on Apr. 15 that their track and field teams will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific University from Apr. 16 to Apr. 18 at Cougar Stadium in Azusa, California.
The event is important as it features a full slate of races for both men and women, giving athletes the opportunity to compete in multiple distance and sprint events over three days. This meet serves as a key part of the Pilots’ outdoor season.
According to the team, Thursday’s events will start with the men’s 10,000-meter run open section featuring Jacob Hupke, Bodie Alderson, and Matt Cordova. Other notable entries include Elliot McIntosh in the men’s steeplechase open and Giuliano Scasso in the invitational steeplechase later that evening. Friday’s schedule includes several sections of men’s and women’s 5,000-meter runs with multiple Portland entries such as Alex Althouse, Dalton Kaines, Berlin Herrera, Selena Bangerter, Danica Allen, Izzy Lochtefeld, Kate Kabenina and others competing throughout the day.
On Saturday, Pilot athletes will participate in various heats of the men’s and women’s 1,500 meters along with sprints like the women’s 200-meter dash featuring Aria Cain and Malia Harvey. The team highlights that live results and video coverage will be available on PortlandPilots.com.
