The Portland Pilots women’s beach volleyball team completed four matches at the Alki Beach Invitational in Seattle on April 17 and 18, facing Boise State, Washington, Florida Atlantic, and Oregon.

The tournament was an opportunity for the Pilots to compete against strong programs as they near the end of their season. The event allowed players to test themselves ahead of the upcoming West Coast Conference Championships.

Portland began play on Friday with a 5-0 loss to Boise State. The top pair of Leonie Freytag and Elin Larsson forced extra points in their opening set but ultimately lost in straight sets. Boise State secured victories on all five courts. Later that day, Portland played Washington. Freytag and Larsson won their first set at the No. 1 position before falling in three sets, while Washington claimed all five matches overall.

On Saturday, Florida Atlantic defeated Portland 5-0. The No. 1 duo for Portland kept both sets close but could not overcome FAU’s lineup strength. In their final match of the weekend against Oregon, several contests were tightly contested—especially second sets on courts one and four—but Oregon earned straight-set wins across all positions.

The Pilots will next compete at the West Coast Conference Championships scheduled for April 23–24 at Ocean Park Beach in Santa Monica.
