Portland State University announced on April 14 that its scheduled softball doubleheader against Oregon State at Hillsboro Ballpark has been canceled because of expected rain in the area.

The cancellation affects both teams’ plans and leaves no immediate opportunity for rescheduling, according to the university. Weather-related cancellations are a common challenge for spring sports, impacting athletes, coaches, and fans who were preparing for the event.

The games were originally set for Tuesday but will not be played as anticipated. Officials said there are currently no plans to make up the missed contests.

Looking ahead, Portland State’s softball team is set to return to action this weekend. The Vikings will host their final home series of the season against Northern Colorado on Friday and Saturday, April 17-18.

The broader impact of weather disruptions highlights ongoing scheduling challenges faced by collegiate athletic programs during unpredictable spring conditions.
