Rose Street at the intersection with OR 99 in Phoenix will close for about 30 days starting Monday, July 28, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). The closure is part of the ongoing OR 99 Glenwood to Coleman Creek project.

A local detour has been set up for neighborhood traffic. Drivers will be directed from N Rose Street to W Bolz Road and then onto OR 99. ODOT recommends following posted detour signs and advises drivers to watch for road workers. There will also be intermittent lane closures on OR 99 through the work zone during weekdays.

The project aims to improve safety and mobility along this corridor between Phoenix and Medford for all users, including bicyclists, pedestrians, and transit riders. Completion is expected in spring 2026.

According to ODOT, most construction projects like this one are continuing as planned despite a broader funding crisis affecting maintenance and operations. Construction projects are generally financed through capital programs that use state or federal funds restricted by law for development purposes. However, ODOT notes that delays may still occur due to reduced staffing levels impacting traffic control, inspections, and oversight functions. More information about the funding situation can be found on ODOT’s website: https://www.oregon.gov/odot/Pages/Funding.aspx.
