The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has reopened the Skipanon River Bridge, allowing traffic to resume on OR 104S after a period of closure. The closure was necessary for the replacement of the center portion of the bridge.

According to ODOT, while some final tasks remain, drivers are urged to proceed with caution and be mindful of workers still present in the area. “We’ve been working on the Skipanon River Bridge this year to replace the center portion. This work required a full OR 104S road closure on either side of the bridge and we’re excited to share that the road is open again!” an ODOT statement read.

The department noted that although it faces a significant funding crisis affecting maintenance and operations, most construction projects continue because they are financed through dedicated state or federal funds restricted for project development.

ODOT encourages motorists to observe safety protocols in work zones, reminding them that fines double in all Oregon work zones regardless of whether workers or signs are present. “Pay attention in the work zone, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers,” ODOT stated.

For additional information about ongoing projects or updates about road conditions, residents can visit TripCheck.com or contact Mindy McCartt, Public Information Officer at 503-507-6045.

The agency also provides translation services and ensures non-discrimination based on disability regarding access to its programs and employment practices. Travelers are reminded that individuals 18 years or older must have federally accepted identification to board commercial flights within the United States.
