The Oregon Department of Transportation announced on April 15 that hazardous tree removal work scheduled for Wednesday on U.S. 26 east of Rhododendron has been canceled due to snowfall.

This delay affects a project originally planned for April 14-16, with crews from ODOT and the U.S. Forest Service set to reschedule the work later this week or next week depending on weather conditions. The department advises travelers to check Tripcheck.com before traveling to see if the work is underway when they plan their trip.

During periods when crews are working, drivers should expect flaggers and possible delays along a four-mile stretch of highway east of Rhododendron. ODOT reminds all travelers in Oregon, especially during severe weather, to consult Tripcheck.com for up-to-date road condition information.

The postponement highlights how unpredictable weather can impact planned maintenance activities and underscores the importance of staying informed about changing travel conditions.
