Four Vikings Earn All-Big Sky Conference Honors

1

Four Portland State women's tennis players have earned All-Big Sky honors, the conference announced on Monday following the team's 8-12 finish and second-straight trip to the Big Sky Conference Tournament. In total, the Vikings picked up three accolades, including two doubles honors.

Sophomore Capu Sanoner was the only Viking to earn honors in both singles and doubles. A three-time Big Sky Player of the Week selection in 2022, Sanoner was named Second Team All-Big Sky singles after going 6-6 overall and 3-3 in conference action at the No. 1 spot. This is Sanoner's second singles honor of her career after earning a first-team nod in 2021.

Sanoner and freshman Nika Beukers claimed the Viking's lone first-team recognition after an exceptional season at No. 1 doubles. The duo went a perfect 6-0 against conference opponents while compiling an 11-2 overall record. Their .846 win percentage ranked second in the Big Sky, with their only losses coming against Oregon and Boise State. As a first-team doubles selection in 2021, this marks Sanoner's second career first-team honor in doubles.

Emily Rees and Mariajose Hernandez Coronado were tabbed Second Team All-Big Sky doubles after an impressive 12-4 (5-1 BSC) mark this season. Second in overall wins, the duo finished the season as the winningest No. 2 duo in the conference after going 4-1 at No. 1 and 8-3 at No. 2. The award marks back-to-back doubles honors for Rees, who was a second-team selection in 2021.
