Ready Wins Coach of the Year, Martinez Wins Offensive Player of the Year in CCC Year End Awards

Warner Pacific men's soccer brought home plenty of conference honors when the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced their end of year awards for the 2022 soccer season.

Andrew Martinez was named both Conference Newcomer of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year and Head Coach Troy Ready was named Coach of the Year for the third year in a row.

Those who have followed Warner Pacific men's soccer this season are no doubt aware of the incredible season that Andrew Martinez has put together. As a freshman Martinez has scored 28 goals in 18 games, leading not only the CCC but also the NAIA. Andrew has scored in every game except for one and has scored multiple goals in 10 games this season.

"It feels great to be named Offensive Player of the Year" Martinez said. "I did not think my season would be as special as it's been but I came to Warner with the mentality to win and help the team win even if I was a freshman."

Head Coach Troy Ready had plenty of praise for the freshman phenom, saying "Andrew has been remarkable throughout the season, scoring in virtually every game we've played. I knew he was going to be a significant addition to our attack but he's definitely surpassed what I had expected."

"To be named first Team All-Conference, Newcomer of the Year and Offensive player of the year is special in it of itself. Him doing all of this as a freshman is quite staggering. Despite such accolades, Andrew has embraced our training ethic, system, and been great to coach. I've already seen much growth in him from when our season began to now and anticipate his continual growth in the coming years" said Ready.

Coach Ready himself was named Coach of the Year for the third year in a row after an undefeated season which saw the Knights win the conference outright, clinching an automatic NAIA Tournament bid.

?Speaking on the award Ready said "It's an incredible honor to receive this award again especially amidst such a great conference full of outstanding coaches."

"Ultimately, it is the players that win the games but I want to acknowledge the entirety of our staff who give so much of themselves for this team. Cameron Marvin, Fernando Ibanez, Octavio Hermosillo, Austin Rogers, Luke Pilarski, Glenn Rogers, Hunter VanCleave and Mauricio Sanchez all bring such unique voices and insights to our team. These players and staff bring me much joy in what they do and who they are both on and off the field" said Ready.

The accolades stop there for the Knights, however, as men's soccer had eight players receive all conference honors, including three being named All-Conference first team.

Alexis Calderilla, Hunter Leach, and Andrew Martinez were named All-Conference first team. While Miguel Andalon-Ordaz, Matias Castano, Kai Flugel, and Erik Mattice, received all-conference second team honors. Uriel Ruelas-Gonzalez also received an honorable mention.

Warner Pacific men's soccer is currently in the middle of a playoff push. They take on Southern Oregon on Nov. 9 in the CCC Semifinals and have already clinched an automatic bid for the NAIA Tournament.
