Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley on June 1 sent to the White House the names of six finalists to fill an upcoming federal judicial vacancy in Oregon created by the announcement from U.S. District Court Judge Marco Hernandez that he will take senior status in August 2024.
In alphabetical order, the six finalists sent by Wyden and Merkley to the White House for its consideration are as follows:
• Amy Baggio, Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge
• Nadia Dahab, attorney
• Kevin Díaz, attorney
• Monica Goracke, Executive Director of Oregon Law Center
• Mustafa Kasubhai, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon.
• Katherine von Ter Stegge, Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge
A selection committee of Oregon attorneys chosen by Wyden and Merkley reviewed the qualifications of applicants for this upcoming vacancy on the U.S. District Court in Oregon and conducted interviews with the finalists. The committee then made recommendations to the senators.
“The committee of exceptional Oregon attorneys has chosen six outstanding candidates for the White House’s consideration,” Wyden and Merkley said. “We are grateful to the committee for devoting long hours to this public service, and fully expect that whoever is ultimately nominated by the President will be promptly confirmed by the Senate.”
