The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) in Oregon has released its biennial voting record, evaluating state legislators on their support for small businesses. The report examines votes from the 2023 and 2024 sessions of the Oregon State Legislature, focusing on seven issues critical to NFIB members' business operations.
Anthony Smith, NFIB's Oregon State Director, emphasized the importance of accountability: “Every elected official claims to be a friend of small business,” he said. “But our voting record holds lawmakers accountable for the way they actually vote on small business issues." He added that this transparency allows NFIB members to assess whether their representatives genuinely support small businesses.
The latest voting record indicates that five state senators and 21 state representatives achieved perfect scores, reflecting full alignment with pro-small-business stances. Conversely, some legislators received significantly lower scores, with the lowest being 33% for a senator and 14% for a representative.
NFIB continues its long-standing mission to advocate for small and independent businesses across America. Established in 1943, the nonprofit organization remains dedicated to representing these enterprises at both national and state levels.
