The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced upcoming construction on the N. Unit Canal Bridge, located at mile point 3 near the Redmond Airport, as part of efforts to enhance safety on OR 126. The project involves widening the bridge and replacing its guardrail.
Construction is scheduled to commence on the evening of Monday, February 17, and will necessitate reducing traffic to a single lane controlled around the clock by portable traffic signals positioned at both ends of the bridge. Travelers should prepare for delays of up to 20 minutes in both directions over an estimated period of four weeks.
Meghan Blyth, community affairs coordinator, is available for more information about the project. For updates on road closures and traffic impacts, ODOT advises visiting TripCheck.com.
ODOT emphasizes caution in work zones, advising drivers to slow down and remain vigilant for construction signs and workers. "Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely," they urge. Additionally, fines are doubled in all Oregon work zones regardless of worker presence.
