Portland women’s tennis had three players recognized with West Coast Conference honors, according to an announcement by the league office on Apr. 21. Seniors Alaia Rubio Perez and Dariya Radulova earned honorable mention All-WCC singles honors, while Rubio Perez and Maria Galatescu received honorable mention in doubles.
The recognition highlights individual achievements within a season that saw the Pilots tie for their most wins since 2015. Rubio Perez played at the top singles spot, compiling a 17-14 overall record and earning four victories against conference opponents. Radulova, who transferred from Virginia Tech for her only season with Portland, finished with a 10-7 dual singles record at the No. 2 position.
In doubles play, Rubio Perez and Galatescu competed as the top pair throughout the spring campaign and posted five dual match wins after a strong fall showing. They ended their season with a combined record of 14-13 in doubles competition.
The Pilots finished their regular season at 10-9 overall and went 5-4 in conference matches, matching marks not seen since their successful run in 2015. Under head coach Filip Zivkovic, Portland has now qualified for the WCC Championships for four consecutive years.
As this year’s No. 5 seed, Portland is set to face fourth-seeded LMU on Thursday at Green Valley Country Club in the opening round of the WCC Championships. The winner will advance to Friday’s semifinals; championship play is scheduled for Saturday.
