Threemile Canyon Farms marked Earth Day on Apr. 21 by highlighting its ongoing commitment to responsible agriculture and environmental stewardship. The farm, which has operated for over 25 years in Eastern Oregon, emphasized the importance of sustainable practices that protect land, water, and resources for future generations.

The announcement comes as the farm continues to focus on integrating crop and dairy operations with conservation efforts. Threemile Canyon Farms employs more than 400 workers across its 93,000-acre property and supports the community through property taxes and donations totaling millions each year, according to the official website.

Sustainability is central to the farm’s philosophy. “Our farming philosophy is grounded in understanding that every part of our operation is connected,” Threemile Canyon Farms said in a statement. The farm uses a closed-loop system where nutrients are recycled from dairy back into fields to support soil health and crop production. Methane captured from livestock waste is converted into renewable energy through an on-site digester that also produces fertilizer, according to the official website.

The company’s approach includes precision irrigation scheduling, crop rotation, manure application, soil testing, and data-driven management of feed rations for herd nutrition. These practices are designed not only to improve efficiency but also to ensure long-term sustainability goals are met.

Threemile Canyon Farms partners with organizations such as Tillamook County Creamery Association and maintains an affiliation with the United Farm Workers Union according to the official website. In recognition of its efforts toward sustainability, it received honors at the U.S. Dairy Sustainability Awards in 2020.

“Stewardship is reflected in the daily decisions, long‑term planning, and ongoing investment in the land and systems we manage,” Threemile Canyon Farms said. The company indicated that while Earth Day provides an opportunity for reflection on progress made so far, their commitment extends beyond this annual event.
