The Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has closed its Tillamook office at 308 Evergreen Drive today due to a facility issue. The department announced that the nearest alternative DMV location for customers is in Lincoln City.

Oregon DMV officials are warning of continued service disruptions, citing ongoing funding shortages, severe understaffing, and a hiring freeze. “Due to our funding crisis, severe understaffing, and a hiring freeze, customers dropping in at a DMV office can expect longer wait times with no guarantee they can be served that day. Making an appointment at DMV2U.oregon.gov is the best assurance for in-office service. Ongoing staffing challenges often cause last-minute office closures, so Oregonians should first check the office status on the DMV website,” the agency stated.

To help manage demand and reduce wait times, Oregon DMV offers more than 20 transactions online through its DMV2U portal. Customers also have access to self-serve Express Kiosks located in 10 Fred Meyer stores along the I-5 corridor and in Bend. These kiosks allow users to renew or replace registrations and stickers without visiting an office. The state plans to expand these services to additional locations in the future.

For most vehicle transactions—excluding VIN inspections—customers may use mail-in options. Further information about available services and updates can be found at https://www.oregondmv.com/.
