Warner Pacific University Women's Volleyball Head Coach Kim Lissinna announced this afternoon, April 12th, the signing of transfer junior middle blocker Shelby Martin to the 2022 Women's Volleyball recruiting class.

"I am very excited to be coaching Shelby again," Coach Lissinna began with, noting of their time together at Mt. Hood Community College.

"She adds size, experience, and a natural ability to throw a wrench in other team's defensive systems. For as long as I've known Shelby, she has had a desire to improve all aspects of her game, and is willing to put in the work to do so," Lissinna went on to share.

"Creating a team culture that is both supportive and competitive is a difficult balance to make, but she is the type of player who will help in both areas. I'm excited for what she will bring to the team, both on and off the court!" Lissinna concluded.

Martin began her volleyball career at Oregon City High School, and went on to play college Women's Volleyball at Mt. Hood. Coach Lissinna originally recruited her to become a Saint at Mt. Hood for her freshman season, before Lissinna went on to coach at NCAA DII Saint Michael's College in 2018, while Martin remained at Mt. Hood to finish her two seasons at the community college level.

Martin last played collegiately at Corban University in Salem, Ore., where she was part of the inaugural Women's Beach Volleyball program that began in the spring of 2020.

Martin plans to continue the pursuit of her degree in Marketing & Sports Management while at Warner Pacific, and has already begun attending WPU open gyms to prepare for a competitive 2022 season as a Knight.
