The Portland State women's soccer team remains undefeated in Big Sky action after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Weber State on senior day at Hillsboro Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Winning four of their last five matches, the Vikings are now 5-5-4 overall and 4-0-1 in conference play. Portland State is off to its best conference start since 2013, sitting at the top of the Big Sky standings for the first time under head coach Katie Burton.
The victory marked the program's first win over the Wildcats since 2016 as Weber State fell to 2-11 and 1-4-0 in Big Sky play.
It took the Vikings just four minutes to get on the board when Lucy Quinn worked her way around a Wildcat defender, sending a strike into the lower left corner of the net. The rest of the first half remained scoreless, as the Vikings' defense held Weber State to just four shots in the opening 45 minutes.
The Vikings emerged from the break energized, scoring less than two minutes into the half when Raniyah Burton squeezed a floater over the outstretched hands of Wildcat goalkeeper Mekell Moss.
Weber State cut into the Vikings' lead in the 52nd minute, before finding the equalizer in the 64th minute. With the match knotted at two, CeCe Jenkins and Ocean Rideout linked up for the second time this weekend, as Jenkins sent a dime into Rideout for the game-winning goal in the 78th minute.
Enya Hernandez and Sidney O'billovich split time in goal for Portland State, each recording two saves in the win. The Vikings out-shot the Wildcats 13-10. Sienna Higinbotham tallied a team-high three shots, putting two on goal.
Three matches remain on the Vikings' regular-season schedule as they look to capture their first Big Sky Championship in nearly a decade. They'll return to action on the road next weekend, taking on Idaho on Friday, Oct. 14 (6 p.m. PT) and Eastern Washington on Sunday, Oct. 16 (1 p.m.).
