On April 6, 2024, Cheng "Charlie" Saephan discovered he had won a $1.3 billion Powerball jackpot, marking the largest in Oregon's history and fourth largest in Powerball history. Saephan shared the prize with his wife and a friend.

Following his win, Saephan has focused on his health as he battles cancer, having undergone two surgeries. Other than a trip to Las Vegas, he remains in the Portland area. Reflecting on the impact of the prize, Saephan said, "I don’t worry about money now. I’ve got my family set up."

He purchased a new home for his family and a rare metallic, neon Lamborghini from Canada. Saephan is also investing locally, having bought east side apartments and financially supporting a local Thai restaurant group.

His lottery win was widely covered by media globally, leading to recognition at local events such as a Blazers game, where a stranger recognized him from the news.

Despite his winnings, Saephan's daily life remains simple; he continues to play the lottery regularly, hopeful for another win. He emphasizes using his fortune to support his family and community.
