The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is reaching out to its members for their views on Measure 118, which will appear on the November 5 ballot. This measure is considered crucial by NFIB as it directly impacts small business operations.

Measure 118 proposes a tax increase on corporations, including S corporations, at a rate of 3% on gross sales exceeding $25 million in Oregon. This tax would be additional to existing taxes paid by these businesses. The increased revenue from this corporate tax is intended to be distributed equally among all individuals who have resided in Oregon for at least 200 days during the previous calendar year, with some exceptions.

The Oregon Department of Revenue will calculate the annual rebate amount, which is estimated to range between $750 and $1,500 per person. For a family of four, this could mean receiving between $3,000 and $6,000 annually from the state. The measure is set to apply to tax years starting in 2025, with rebates being issued beginning in 2026.

NFIB members are encouraged to express their opinions on Measure 118 through a special ballot. Members should have received a unique survey link via email, which will be available for a limited time.
