Starting today, maintenance work on the Old Youngs Bay Bridge requires its closure during daylight hours. Between April 14 and April 18, construction crews will be working from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., undertaking repairs to the steel grate surface and adjacent roads. During this period, the bridge will be closed to vehicles during the day but will reopen for nighttime traffic. Drivers in the area can expect noise and potential delays.

Officials urge motorists to exercise caution while driving through work zones, emphasizing safety, awareness of signs, and attention to construction workers. They remind the public, "fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not."

The public is encouraged to share information about the maintenance and to sign up for further updates on ongoing roadwork. To view the latest on road construction in local areas, ODOT invites community members to explore its interactive map online.

For additional language support or accommodation requests, individuals are encouraged to contact the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) using TTY or the statewide Oregon Relay Service. The department affirms, "We do not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission or access to our programs, services, activities, hiring and employment practices."

Travelers can access 24/7 road conditions and traffic updates by visiting TripCheck.com or calling 5-1-1. Additionally, those planning to fly should prepare for new federal ID requirements starting May 7.
